Saturday, March 6:
- Armuchee Elementary: (all day) - Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition - The 4th and 5th grade team members will travel to Kennesaw, Georgia to compete in the regional competition. This competitive competition helps to build creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills in students in grades 3-5.
- Coosa High: (all day) - A Fillin' Fundraiser - The Creative Language Arts Society and the Weird Science Club teamed together with CiCi's Pizza in supporting the academic clubs. For this fundraiser, just tell the cashier at CiCi's that you are from Coosa High, and then have a fillin' plate of food.
Monday, March 8:
- Cave Spring Elementary : (7:00 - 8:00 a.m.) - Mom's Breakfast - Students will have breakfast with their Moms.
- Glenwood Primary: (8:30 - 12:00 p.m.) - GED Classes - The classes are free and are held on the school grounds.
The classes are formed around individual needs. This is a Partnership with Georgia Northwestern
Technical College (formally known as Coosa Valley Technical College). For more information, contact Tina Black at (706) 236-1855.
- Pepperell Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - Learning Center – Extra math instruction available for students.
Tuesday, March 9:
- Floyd County Fine Arts: (8:30-4:00) - Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Choral Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) for District 7 - The performance evaluation will be held in the Armuchee High School Auditorium.
The evaluations
will continue through Thursday, March 11. District 7 includes the counties from Chattanooga to Carrollton. Please, contact the student's school chorus director for more information on performance times.
- Armuchee Middle: (3:15 - 4:15 p.m.) - After-school tutoring in reading or math for 8th grade students. Students should sign up with their homeroom teachers.
- Johnson Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - After-school Tutoring - Math tutoring available for students.
- Pepperell Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - Learning Center – Extra math instruction available for students.
Wednesday, March 10:
- Armuchee Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - The Scrabble Club will meet after school.
- Armuchee Middle: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - The 6th grade Scrabble Club will meet after school. For more information, contact Dr. Cathy Studdard at (706) 378-7924.
- Glenwood Primary: (4:00 - 4:30 p.m.) - Shamrock Shuffle Walk/Run Event - The “Feelin’ Good Mileage Club” is an exercise program designed for the entire family. Each participant will walk or run for 30 minutes on school track. Each member of the family may sign up and earn rewards. Mileage is accumulated by walking, running or active participation in 100 “fitness equivalent” or more activities. Each family receives a “mileage equivalency chart” to help determine the equivalency of other physical activities to one mile of walking
- McHenry Primary: (10:15 a.m.) - "Buckle Bear" Safety
Program - Pre-K students and their parents are invited to attend the "Buckle
Bear" presentation. The Floyd Medical Center will present the program. The
program focuses on the importance of using seat belts. Visit
Buckle Bear's website to learn more about the program.
- Model Middle: (11:00 - 2:00 p.m.) - 8th grade CRCT Egg Hunt against Armuchee. Students from both schools will find eggs and race to answer CRCT questions. The hunt will take place at Northside Church across from Armuchee High School.
- Pepperell Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - Learning Center - Extra reading instruction available for students.
Thursday, March 11:
- Floyd County School System: (8:30 a.m.) - Superintendent's Advisory Committee Meeting will take place at Glenwood Primary School.
The breakfast is at 8:30 and the meeting begins at 9 a.m.
- Cave Spring Elementary: (7:30 a.m.) - School Council Meeting
- Coosa High: (lunch) - How many in the Jar? - Guess how many candies there are and win the entire jar! It is 25 ¢ for each guess. The proceeds help to fund the Ashley Brooke Jones memorial campus beautification project sponsored by the Junior Optimist Club. The winner will be announced during lunch.
- Coosa Middle: (2:15 - 3:00 p.m.) - Dodge Ball Tournament - Students only! There is a $3.00 fee for those students that want to participate in the tournament. For the spectators, admission fee is $1.00.
- Armuchee Middle: (3:15 - 4:15 p.m.) - After-school tutoring in reading or math for 8th grade students. Students should sign up with their homeroom teachers.
- Johnson Elementary: (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - After-school Tutoring - Reading tutoring available for students.
- Pepperell Elementary: (12:00 p.m.) - 'Lunch and Learn' for Parents - Nurse Claudia Burkhalter will present to parents on children's health issues. Parents are invited for lunch in the Parent Center, free of charge.
(3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) - Learning Center - Extra reading instruction available for students.
- Pepperell Primary: (6:00 p.m.) - Parent Workshop -
The school will host a "Testing and Assessment" workshop for parents in the media center. A light meal will be served prior to the workshop. For more information or to register for the workshop please call the school at (706) 236-1835.
