Introducing the Honors Program
This new advanced program of study for students in Floyd County Schools is among the top college preparatory programs in Northwest Georgia. The comprehensive, rigorous, advanced program of study designed to prepare students for the most demanding college or university is available at all four Floyd County high schools. (See course listing schedule ) Best of all, students are GUARANTEED ready for college.
Standards
- Students are held to high expectations
- Students and parents receive continuous updates on academic progress.
- Instruction features high expectations and extended content.
- Technology is a major tool of instruction.
- Students must produce projects displaying an increased depth of learning.
- Student learning is assessed by tests, written reports, oral presentations, projects, and portfolios.
Key Program Components
- Advanced courses, introduced into the middle grades
- Opportunities to take courses through the Directed Learning and the Executive
Internship Programs
- Grading policies that reward students for taking advanced level courses.
Enrollment
Students must meet program criteria and have parental approval to enroll in the advanced program. A limited number of out-of-district students will be accepted based on merit. Students may choose to pursue the honors track in selected areas.

The Guarantee
Any graduate of the program required to take a remedial class after entering a college or university will be reimbursed the cost of the remedial class by the Floyd County School System.
*The guarantee will only apply to students who earn the Honors Program Seal
and enter an accredited college or university the fall after graduation from
high school.*
